What is a Dog Flu virus?

 

Dog Flu Virus discovered barely 14 - 16 years back in USA. This virus is similar to that the virus of bird flu, swine flu or human flu but it has some other characteristics feature of its own. Dog flu virus can affect the dogs but this virus will not be able to cause the infections to humans unlike the other flu viruses. The mortality rate is somewhere between one percent to five percent. The death risks for the adult dogs are low but for the puppies and old dogs the fatalities are high.
Dog Flu Virus when infects a dog it shows some symptoms that are Kennel Cough, fatigue, weakness, runny nose and nasal discharge. The symptoms are such that you will easily pick up that the dog is suffering Dog Flu. This infection is caused when there are other dogs who are also infected from the disease tends to pass on the disease to the other dogs. But there is no point of danger if your dog contracts Dog Flu because the dogs immune system automatically builds the antibodies which can fight against the flu.
If you have figured out that the dog is suffering from the dog flu then you should take it to the vet and he refer a blood test and the Dog Flu is easily diagnosed. the infection is around for the period of 10 - 20 days and after that the Dog flu disappears and your dog is safe.
