Kennel Cough, Dog Flu, Canine Flu, Canine Influenza

Kennel Cough, Dog Flu, Canine Flu, Canine Influenza

Kennel Cough is disease is a disease which affects the dogs mainly in the cold countries. Kennel Cough is a disease which occurs because of the inflammation of the respiratory tract of the dog which is very difficult to control and highly contagious. Kennel Cough is caused by the number of vectors such as bacteria and virus. Canine Influenza virus causes Kennel Cough, Dog Flu, Canine Flu or Canine Influenza.

Symptoms of Kennel Cough

The canine infected with kennel cough can remove this virus to other dogs in his neighborhood are closing. The virus takes 3 to 5days extension in the body of the victims. The kennel cough can lead to pneumonia. And pneumonia in dogs can be dangerous reserved. The symptoms of kennel cough are seen only 3 to 5 days after being infected, symptoms of cough include callous and dry cough, sneezing, retching and snorting after exercise or snorting in response to light pressing of trachea. Dogs fall in some cases with fever, but not all. The kennel cough lasting up to 10 to 20 days. During Kennel cough your canine can get a bit aggressive and short tempered too, it is best to leave the dog rest as much as possible to ensure rapid recovery. Dogs that are infected with kennel cough are easily prone to pneumonia too, in this case extra care and attention along with proper treatment are a necessity.

Treatment of Kennel Cough

For the treatment of kennel cough, you should take the dog and visit your regular veterinarian for malpractice in the case of kennel cough can put your dog's life in danger and the separate infection among dogs also nearby. A veterinarian immediately put the dog on antibiotics, as only an antibiotic can help boost immunity to fight viral or bacterial infection in the body of dogs. A Cough Suppressant will be given to the dog incase it is too dry cough, the cough suppressant to help relieve dry cough.

Diagnosis of Kennel Cough

Early diagnosis of kennel cough is so good that the farther gets, the severity of the cough will get worse and handling the dog will become very difficult. as soon as their is sign of disease take your pet to the animal doctor for diagnosis

Prevention of kennel Cough

For the prevention of kennel cough is recommended t vaccinate your dog for any form of viral or bacterial infections such as adenovirus, disease, influenza and Bordetella for dogs. People who have dogs kennels it is advisable to see that all dogs are vaccinated and the kennels are clean and disinfected.

Kennel Cough Dog Diagnosis

Kennel Cough Dog Diagnosis

Diagnosis of Kennel Cough:

A veterinarian can easily diagnose that your dog is suffering from Kennel Cough on the basis of history, physical examination and clinical examination. Kennel Cough is a very characteristic disease which will lead to the massaging of the larynx and trachea of tour dog. If your dog is depressed he will discharge a thick and yellow discharge from the nose, it may also emit some abnormal sounds. to determine the exact serious of the Kennel Cough your veterinarian may order to undertake some other tests such as complete blood count (CBC), Chest Radio-graphs and laboratory analysis of the micro-organisms that inhibit the airways of your dog. These tests can help determine if the dog has developed pneumonia or other infectious disease like distemper in addition to the Kennel Cough.

How to prevent Kennel Cough?

If your Dog is diagnosed with Kennel Cough he should be immunized because immunization is a important part of any program which is carried out in order to check the spread of the disease. Immunization is highly recommended for the prevention of the Kennel Cough. But when the disease is caused by multiple organisms, making the effective immunization complicated, one should focus on minimizing the exposure of your dog to the disease causing organisms. One should not share your dog's toys or feeding grounds or water with other strange dogs. And if your dog is in a kennel or in a ring, make sure it is adequately ventilated so that the airborne organisms are out and does not cause any infections to your dogs

Causes of Kennel Cough

Causes of Kennel Cough

Kennel Cough Causes:

The Kennel Cough is a disease which affects the respiratory system of dogs. It can be caused by several different airborne bacteria such as Bordetella bronchiseptica and also by viruses such as canine parainfluenza or a mycoplasma (an organism that is somewhere between a virus and bacteria). Typically, more than a few of these pathogens must attack the dog at the same time to trigger the disease. Such an attack is more likely when a dog spends time in a small room in close contact with many other dogs who have these infections. Dogs that attend dog shows, who travel frequently, or dogs which leave in day care are at higher risk of developing kennel cough that dogs who spend at home most of the time.

Kennel Cough Mode of Transmission

Kennel Cough Mode of Transmission

Mode of transmission of the Kennel Cough:

Kennel Cough is a highly contagious disease that occurs in places where dogs are different age groups and susceptibility. For example, squares or parks where dogs are adults, street and next to a newly acquired puppy with just a few days of vaccine. The dogs also who are underfed, undernourished. The veterinary, daycare centers, research centers are also places where they can infect susceptible dogs. There may be a history of recent exposure to unfamiliar groups of dogs at a dog show or similar events.

The etiologic agents are present in high concentrations in respiratory secretions of the dogs affected by the Kennel Cough and spread by coughing or sneezing. In the case of the virus adds the intestinal tract. These also are carried on hands or clothing of persons dependent on the animal and containers of food or drink. The infectious agent enters the animal through the pharynx i.e. through the mouth or nose.

For the proper treatment of the Kennel Cough it is highly necessary that the tests for the diagnosis of the Kennel Cough should be done properly and extent of infection should be checked.

Diagnosis Of Kennel Cough:

The case history of the dog, a proper review and history of the contacts with sick animals or infectious carriers. Healthy hoarse cough which lasts 5 to 10 days after being exposed to inappropriate environment with other dogs. Nasal discharge is mild and infrequent as severe purulent discharge is greenish yellow.

The fever may be present in more severe cases. Do not forget physical examination and chest auscultation performed correctly supervised by the vet. In laboratory blood count is done and is a leukocytosis (possible pneumonia or the most common stress suffered by the animal) and decreased lymphocytes and eosinophils. These are cells that are at the expense of the defense mechenism. It is also possible that intra tracheal cytology will increase in neutrophils. Radiographs are normal in dogs with uncomplicated disease or mild form. In more severe cases there is an interstitial pattern of infection by viruses or bacterial pneumonias occur. They tend to be isolation of infectious agents as elements of study.

Kennel Cough Clinical Signs

Kennel Cough Clinical Signs

General clinical signs of Kennel Cough

The Kennel Cough sign is sharable a dry cough, hoarse and often paroxysmal, beginning at 3 to 4 days of exposure to agents and can last 10 days to 3 weeks if not resolved. Coughing spells may lead to loosening of mucus or phlegm. The cough is more frequent after exercise, excitement, or change of air temperature and inspired. The days of winter, cold in addition to ambient humidity for a walk in places are conducive to disease, especially the abrupt change from home to the cold tiles heated, moist soil.

The puppies who are under six week can get infected with the severe form of the disease, whose signs are wet cough with nasal discharge and muco-purulent eye, fever and anorexia. So stop eating, drink water, sleep more than usual, not playing and listless. About 10 to 20% of dogs with this severe form of the disease may die from Kennel Cough.

In very rare form may occur tracheo-bronchitis episode of acute infectious and result in chronic cough or chronic bronchitis induced tracheal collapse in predisposed animals. It is important to not win the animal disease has a high concentration of immunoglobulin A, which is achieved in animals in good health and proper vaccination in a timely manner.

Dog Flu, Kennel Cough Prophylaxis

Dog Flu, Kennel Cough Prophylaxis

Kennel Cough or Dog Flu
Many infectious agents can cause respiratory disease in dogs, including viruses, bacteria, mycoplasma, fungi and parasites. Here we frequently discuss the diagnosed respiratory disease, highly contagious in dogs, known as infectious tracheobronchitis or Kennel Cough or Dog Flu.

Prophylaxis:
Make a proper plan for the vaccination of pets and observe the effect of periods to bring vaccines after walking the dog. Vaccines quintuple, quadruple in order to always ask against the immunizing agent is our mascot. In the winter meces whether to take a walk the dog but with care and time accordingly. Use straps, coat, leave for lunch or a nap, no rain day and not take puppies to places of encounter with other animals to trust your vet makes this known. Kennel Cough (Dog Flu) Prevention

Kennel Cough (Dog Flu) Prevention

The Kennel Cough or Dog Flu is tracheobronchitis (inflamed airways) secondary infection caused by bacterial agents (Bordetela) and viral (parainfluenza, reovirus, adenovirus and distemper virus exceptionally).

This disease is characterized by producing a dry cough very troublesome for both the pet and owners often describe it as "the dog wants to take something that is in the throat." Although this disease can occur in individual animals is more common in communities (boarding kennels, training centers, farms, etc).

Infection Vectors

The infection occurs through direct contact and via aerogen through droplets produced in sneezing or coughing. The lack of ventilation, exposure to aerosols, cold, stress and other environmental factors may be predisposing since all of them can impair mucociliary barrier that serves as a defense to the respiratory system.

Treatment and Prevention

Yet this is not a serious, in fact animals are not likely to be depressed, so many of them heal on its own without treatment. However, in many cases, it is necessary to give antibiotic therapy and anti-inflammatory during the early days. 7 days if no improvement is noted, especially in puppies, additional tests should be made to prevent the process from getting worse.

Although this is, as stated above, a mild process should prevent them from occurring by eliminating the risk factors and using vaccines, especially in communities. The vaccination plan is to start 60 days of life of the animal and will continue annually.

The Dog Flu

The Dog Flu

Like humans, dogs also have their own "Flu" called as Dog Flu or canine infectious tracheobronchitis, as contagious as human but against which vaccination is specifically only just over 1 percent of these animals. This disease does not cause zoonoses and therefore are not transmitted to humans, but their virus could cause distress to people who are immuno-suppressed. The expert believed that vaccination against this disease is recommended to avoid complications and said that most of multivalent vaccines that are administered today already cover tracheobronchitis.

According to the expert, the current heptavalent and pentavalent vaccines that protect against hepatitis, distemper, leptospirosis and parvovirus also do so against the Dog Flu, a detail that many owners are unknown.

Canine infectious tracheobronchitis occurs in areas with large concentrations of dogs, such as farms, residences and even parks and plazas, the mode of transmission of this disease is through sneezing and saliva. According to a report of a veterinary drug manufacturing laboratories, nearly 90 percent of domestic dogs live under the same roof as their masters. The 20 percent of those pets sleep in the same bed with her owner, while 26 percent do so in the same room and 43 percent in some other room in the house

Dog Flu Preventable By Vaccine

Dog Flu Preventable By Vaccine

Let to give a brief description of some, but we must take into account that the symptoms of many diseases is very similar, and because the dog the neighbor has had distemper and our dog is cold does not mean that are the same. We should always use the veterinary and ignore the neighbor because "he knows a lot of dogs," the professional is to be advise.

Diseases preventable by vaccines:

Distemper: It is a disease very contagious from dog to dog, and has no risk to people. It spread by direct contact or through the feces and urine of a dog ill. Has three phases, digestive, respiratory and nervous. It often begins by problems with diarrhea and vomiting, usually turn out to be bloody and may persist or be the same While the respiratory, with sneezing, coughing, watery eyes and runny nose. The last phase is usually the nerve, which can also be concurrent the other two, with contractions, tics and even screams in pain. If normally reaches this stage the prognosis is poor, but in any case is a very dangerous disease, which is better safe than sorry.

Parvovirus: The symptoms are very distemper-like in its infancy, but is a disease that presents only with digestive symptoms (at least those who can appreciate the owner, because has many more than the veterinarian will know explain in detail) is i.e, bloody diarrhea and vomiting, which can cause dehydration animal. Most important in case of diarrhea and vomiting is not forcing the animal to take any food, since only succeed cause more vomiting. It is better to leave them without water for a few hours to rest the stomach and if symptoms persist consult your vet.

Viral Hepatitis: Liver involvement, is fortunately much less common and every day is less due to the routine vaccination. It usually causes jaundice (i.e, the animal has a yellowing of the mucous membranes in the mouth, eyes), can also affect the eyes, and produces apathy, are very active animals and not eat well and then tolerate food.

Leptospirosis: The contagion is much less frequent, as often exists in field locations where there are rats and food-producing animals (cows, sheep) who are potential transmitters, through infected water, the dog. It affects the liver and the kidneys, producing hemorrhagic urine (which stains dark colored), iron deficiency and apathy, weakness, fever and lack of appetite and symptoms of congestive kidney, such as drinking and urinating a lot. The problem is that it can infect the man, so it is very important vaccination to prevent it in our pets and avoid risks to human populations.

Coronavirus: There are certain areas of Spain where there is a lot. It is indistinguishable from Parvovirus by symptoms, since both present with vomiting and diarrhea bleeding, but the veterinarian available that can indicate analytical what disease is involved. He is the one who must decide whether to vaccinate our pet, or if the health status of the area is not necessary vaccination.

Kennel cough or tracheobronchitis: It occurs most often in dogs that live in large communities as in hatcheries or stores or kennels, because it is transmitted through the air. It's sort of Dog Flu, which produces hoarse cough and difficult to breathing. It can cause fever and consequently decrease the appetite dog. But whenever any symptoms we go with our pet to veterinarian.

Dog Flu Is Contagious

Dog Flu Is Contagious

Dog Flu

High and dry cough, difficulty breathing, fever, and apathy are the main signs observed. Although it can affect dogs of all ages are most susceptible young animals under one year and over seven framed within the risk group. Within this there are also breeds Bulldog, Boxer, etc because the confirmation of the respiratory system at the nose-larynx makes them prone to respiratory problems with complicated clinical pictures. In which if not aggressively treated quickly the disease can progress to more serious symptoms and even death of the animal. They can have more than one agent but the most commonly isolated are two viruses (parainfluenza and adenovirus type 2) and bacteria (Bordetella bronchiseptica) that invade the upper respiratory tract, penetrate through aerogen and travel in droplets produced in the coughing . The disease is characterized by swelling of upper airway, larynx, trachea and bronchi which results in a sometimes very annoying cough with expectoration or a kind of "arcade" as if the animal had a foreign body is not able to remove. Environments where there is more risk of infection are dogs communities such as farms, nurseries or homes where there is a direct or indirect contact between animals from different sources. If we decide to leave our pet in a boarding kennel is therefore indicated a few days before vaccination to protect against this disease. In most day care is a prerequisite that we have put the animals to make use of the facilities. Process is very widespread and highly contagious to other dogs. Just to share a toy or walk together for actors move from one animal to another and will be a matter of three or four days post infection when we see the first symptoms. For diagnosis in most cases you can just observing the typical signs but in severe cases laboratory tests are necessary based on analysis of exudates that allow us to isolate the germs involved. In general, except in immunocompromised animals with good medical treatment and rest usually improve quickly. It is important to provide the animal with a quiet, no sudden changes in temperature and avoid stressful situations. You may use a harness to replace the collar to avoid pressure on the larynx and trachea due to this process are more easily irritated. And of course once more veterinarians recommend prevention through the use of specific vaccines that prevent the dog from getting the disease still being in contact with sick animals. We must remember that the vaccine is not curative and can only be inoculated to a healthy animal. They provide protection that lasts twelve months and must therefore be revaccinated annually for proper immunization.

If the avian flu virus is in your area (though still not been found in North America), it might be a good idea to keep your dog indoors to prevent contact with infected birds. If you have a hunting dog, it should reconsider its use to grab dead birds. Report to the local veterinary authority of any evidence of high mortality of birds, whether domestic or wild. If your dog shows breathing problems or nasal discharge, consult a veterinarian. Wash sheets of animals with soap or any detergent commercial.

The dog care

An equine virus has recently been shown in dogs in the United States. It is believed that the horse viruses have mutated to produce a variant of the dogs. This could represent a slightly higher risk for dogs that avian influenza. This type of exchange between species is very common for virus type A. It is unclear when this type of transition occurred.

The symptoms of Dog Flu can be similar to kennel cough and include: a persistent cough, mild and wet, and heavy nasal discharge. More severe cases may include high fever, pneumonia and difficulty when breathing, which can also be caused by secondary bacterial infection.

If your dog shows any of these symptoms, consult your veterinarian. So far, there has been little indication of transmission from dogs to humans. There is no vaccine available at this time. Treatment is usually limited to intravenous fluids to help your dog stay hydrated along with the use of antibiotics to control infection.

Kennel Cough Types, Dog Flu Details

Kennel Cough Types, Dog Flu Details

Infectious tracheobronchitis (cough in dogs) is a disease of dogs involving the respiratory system patient. That is known as kennel cough. Among the agents etiologic involved are among others the Bordetella bronchiseptica, adenovirus type 2, Parainfluenza, Distemper, Mycobacteria and environmental factors.

TBI is a disease highly contagious disease that can affect dogs of all ages giving rise to episodes of coughing in dogs associated with a marked respiratory distress. In Generally speaking, when these actors operate separate mild sinology and speedy recovery. In affected dogs decreases appetite and lose weight. The patients most likely to kennel cough are immunosuppressed infants, especially after weaning. Adults are normally weak affected patients recovering from illness, or immunosuppressed by prolonged treatment with steroids or other medicines, patients undergoing intense stress states or transportation.

Cough Kennels (Kennel Cough) - Bordetella bronchiseptica:

This bacterium is widely thought, time, as an opportunistic agent of respiratory tract not so superior after experimental infection in susceptible animals where primary infection was found by this agent.

The Bordetella bronchiseptica is adhesion to the surface of the respiratory epithelium cilia. This causes ciliary paralysis 3 hours after infection. Besides the bacteria produce Exotoxins that inhibit phagocytic capacity of macrophages, interfering with the host cell immune response.

The disease is highly transmitted by aerosols. The patient has early clinical signs (cough in dogs) between 3 and 10 days after infection, and may persist for 3 or 6 weeks.

The Bordetella bronchiseptica can cause respiratory diseases in 15 animal species including manBeing, therefore, the one Bordetellosis zoonoses. The Most cases of human disease associated with a history of immunosuppressive treatments in diseases.

Cough kennels - Parainfluenza:

It is an infection caused by a virus that induces the presence of dry cough in dogs non-productive, with eventual presentation of rhinitis, nasal discharge and mild hyperthermia. The course of the disease is self-limiting and lasts an average of 3 weeks. Concomitant infection with other viruses or bacteria potentiate the severity of the clinical signs and duration.

Cough kennels - Adenovirus Type 2:

Dogs infected with adenovirus type 2 manifested tonsillitis, laryngitis, and pharyngitis. The Incubation period is 8 to 9 days and is extremely fast transmission through susceptible patients. In complicated infections, animals manifest lung congestion and pneumonia who regularly by secondary infection of Bordetella bronchiseptica.

Other pollutants that cause coughing in dogs:

Mycoplasma spp, herpes virus (which also produces less severe respiratory episodes).Environmental Factors and cleaning products based on formaldehyde, sudden temperature changes, Which may predispose to episodes of coughing. There are many agents as secondary contamination, E. coli, Klebsiella spp, Pseudomonas spp, etc..

Canine Flu, Dog Flu, Kennel Cough are highly contagious

Canine Flu, Dog Flu, Kennel Cough are highly contagious

Pursuing canine flu a highly contagious disease and sometimes fatal has been detected in a number of states and can spread around the country. The researchers reported that dog flu is a mysterious flu strain which jumped from horses to dogs. The dog flu is highly similar to equine flu is in E.E.U.U. for over 40 years. Flu has never before occurred in dogs.

Humans do not get the virus and it is unlikely they will succeed dogs, According to industry experts of flu control centers disease. The medical term for the dog flu virus is H3N8. Symptoms of dog flu are much like those of "kennel cough." Dog flu symptoms may have a nagging cough, fever and nasal discharge.

Dogs with canine flu are susceptible to getting pneumonia. Canine flu made the news earlier this year as greyhound racetracks closed to control outbreaks. Veterinarians struggled to tell whether thedisease was a new variant of kennel cough or an entirely new disease. It was first detected at a Florida racetrack and several dogs died from it.

Tests of blood stored by racetracks suggests the new canine flu strain began infecting dogs sometime between 1999 and 2003, well before the first outbreaks were recognized. The announcement follows months of speculation and concern the growth between dog-lovers, about canine flu. Researchers have been working on a canine vaccine flu for three months. Not yet known how long it would take for such a flu vaccine is to become a proven, to be manufactured, and having distributed for veterinary use.

Kennel Cough, Dog Flu, Bird Flu

Kennel Cough, Dog Flu, Bird Flu

These days there is more to talk about bird flu. Among the hunters it is doubtful whether one can contract the disease when handling birds killed during hunting, especially migratory species. We also wonder if dogs can contract the disease while collecting these pieces, and if both can transmit the disease to their owners. We will answer these questions.

The bird flu or avian influenza, which is technically known as a disease, is caused by a virus that affects only birds. There are more likely to be affected birds, like chickens or turkeys, and more resistant to it like ducks, or geese, ducks and seabirds. The latter can become what they call reservoirs, i.e. animals that carry and transmit the disease but who do not suffer..

Other species are also suffering the flu or influenza, such as pigs, horses or humans. Each species has its group of viruses adapted to them, i.e. there is a flu virus or swine influenza, influenza or equine influenza, and of course, human influenza. As we see are different viruses, but with enough similarity between them. Thus, in certain circumstances, eg. where there is a very narrow coexistence, lack of hygiene or becomes very virulent virus, the virus can jump from one species to another.

To this we must add that viruses are very simple organisms, so simple that they do not have DNA, i.e. own genetic code to reproduce. So what they do is get inside the cells of the invading organism to use your DNA in order to multiply. If this situation is infected by two different viruses, they can recombine and produce a new type of highly pathogenic virus. That is, and give an example, if a person infected with human influenza virus begins to operate in conditions of poor hygiene birds infected by bird flu, it is possible that viruses come over and mixed species inside the infected cell and to share DNA and create a new virus adapted to people and more virulent.

Dog and bird flu
These jumps from one species to another or to adapt this genetic recombination from one species to another can occur only from one species to another species that are susceptible to flu, never to species are not. In carnivores, dogs and cats has not been reported avian influenza, so they are not susceptible to it. Therefore hunting dogs can not contract or transmit bird flu.

Of course, then there is the possibility there of recombinant virus. Therefore, assuming that if avian flu arrived in Southeast Asia to Europe, and in the event that the virus is diagnosed in wildlife, hunting dogs can not have the disease nor transmit it.

My dog sneezes and runny
Dogs, like humans, can cause a variety of respiratory illnesses like a cold, and that can lead us to think he has the flu, but as I said before, this is not true.

The most common respiratory disease in dogs is the laryngo-tracheitis, or more commonly called "kennel cough". It is caused by a virus often associated respiratory bacteria that complicate the picture. It causes mainly a dry, unproductive cough, in some animals is complicated and may have fever, poor appetite and be sad. It is highly contagious through direct contact with respiratory secretions and spreads rapidly from one dog to another. Hence its name, because when it comes in a kennel is transmitted to most of the copies of the site soon.

It is a benign disease, and most individuals heal themselves within days. Should watch the young and old animals, as well as those in the introduction of any box of complications, but generally the trend is favorable.

Pneumococcal
Less frequent, but also we are pneumonia's. These are caused by localized infections in the lung parenchyma. It may take more unnoticed than kennel cough, since many animals do not show a very obvious symptoms. The condition is usually loss of appetite, malaise, fever, dyspepsia, and does not support the exercise, they drown. The clinical diagnosis is made through auscultation and lung radio-graphs. All pneumonia's should be treated with antibiotics during the time needed for healing and veterinary supervision. Rest is also very important.

Finally, there is a very important disease with respiratory symptoms, which takes its name: the pip. This is a disease caused by a virus that attacks the nervous system and cause ticks, paralysis or seizures. But as its incubation period can be quite long during this time down the patient's defenses and other active secondary diseases such as respiratory, causing abundant purulent nasal secretions, of which it is named.

It is a very serious because we can do little once the vets show, but it has a very good prevention with vaccines, thanks to which it is becoming less frequent.

As we see, dogs can suffer from similar clinical pictures to a flu or a cold, but all are well known and caused by different agents to those of influenza or flu. Therefore, these symptoms it is prudent to go to the vet, but never fear that may have a flu, and also we can get. so there is no danger of dog flu.

Dog Flu , Dog Flu Symptoms Information

Dog Flu , Dog Flu Symptoms Information

There is much information about influenza virus A subtype H1N1 (originally known as swine flu) and how to protect yourself and your family

But what about our dogs? Can contracting or spreading the H1N1 virus among themselves or with members of the human family? Most likely the answer is no. This is not an absolute answer, because the viruses have the ability to mutate, but not historically been known of the dog flu transmission to humans (or vice versa).

The AVMA says that to date there is no evidence that domestic animals are susceptible to this new strain of influenza, as it was only transmitted from person to person or from human to pig. There is not yet enough information so that we know for sure if the virus can spread to other animals.

The best advice is to always follow the guidelines of common sense when dealing with animals (eg, hand washing). Furthermore, it is more important than ever that landlords watch the health of their dogs and consult the veterinarian if your dog shows any sign of illness. Keeping your pets healthy reduces the risk of disease.

A little more information ...
There are two types of viruses that cause influenza: type A and type B.
Type B viruses circulate widely among humans.
Type A viruses are found in humans and many animals, usually strains are species specific. The dogs have their own version of the influenza virus.

Influenza virus canine is the type A subtype H3N8. While dogs can be infected and sick with this strain of the virus, humans are not so similar to this species and to share this virus in its present form. and still have not been informed yet of any event that has spread to humans.

"There is currently no data to show no risk that dogs and cats from getting this virus strain," says Dr. Louise Murray, Director of Medicine Bergh Memorial Hospital of the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in New York City.

Interestingly, the birds play an important role in the spread of all kinds influenza virus A.
The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) informed us that: "Wild birds are the main natural reservoir of all subtypes of type A influenza virus and are believed to be the source of influenza virus type A in all other animals .

As always, if you suspect your dog is sick, please contact your veterinarian for an exam and to discuss any questions.

Canine Flu, Dog Flu, Dog Flu Vaccine , Dog Flu Symptoms

The CDC launched in USA on its website a series of tips that warn of the existence of the canine flu (H3N8). Canine infectious tracheobronchitis can be prevented with a vaccine intranasally

As in the case of human influenza, canine infectious tracheobronchitis, also known as products of the kennels are easily preventable with a vaccine.

The cough of kennels like human influenza, is actually an infectious tracheobronchitis that affects the respiratory tract between stress symptoms and a persistent dry cough. It is highly contagious and is transmitted via aerosol through coughing and sneezing or by direct contact (nose to nose). It is very common among dogs that live in places where there is a large population as a dog Kennels, exhibitions and even city parks. In addition involved a bacterium can be transmitted to humans mainly people with low immune systems such as those affected by AIDS.

Although rare, the disease can be passed to humans through the same routes, air and direct contact, developing a bacterial infection of the airways presenting symptoms similar to conventional cold.

If we consider that our mascot is very important in the family, it is also desirable to keep the vaccines our children do the same with our dogs. They are also exposed to the risk of easily preventable diseases with a new intranasal vaccine (Nobivac KC, Intervet Laboratories).

Vaccines are a key element in the health of our pets. It is important to prevent the spread of diseases especially when puppies are our pets or in their old age, as happens with humans. During the autumn "of kennels cough becomes a threat to our pets and owners need to become aware of the importance of vaccines.

The cough of kennels "sleep away from their masters

At night, 68% of dogs sleep under the same roof as their owners. 6% of owners stated that the dog sleeps in bed while 5% of dogs sleep in the same room as her master. The remaining dogs are sleeping at home are distributed as you wish for it: 5% family sleeps on the couch and 16% prefer the stiffness of the soil. 36% of dogs have their own bed, and finally 24% sleep away from home.

But these sleep shared with your pet can become a nightmare of hours if the animal was infected by the "cough of the kennels." And is that at night is when the dry cough and persistent main symptom of the disease becomes more apparent.

Any dog is exposed to the illness of the "cough of kennels" a usually benign disease that usually lasts about 15 days, but that attacks the body and weakens our pet to attack from other viruses or bacteria.

The cough of the kennels "can be prevented with the vaccine intranasally Nobivac KC, easier to administer and a more effective and quicker than injecting the vaccine. KC Nobivac is administered in one nostril and provides partial protection for 48 hours and complete protection from 72 hours and 1 year, a very desirable and convenient for those animals that were exposed to risk as may be in an enclosed space with other dogs. Additionally, KC can Nobivac administered to pups with only three weeks of life
