The Dog Flu

The Dog Flu

Like humans, dogs also have their own "Flu" called as Dog Flu or canine infectious tracheobronchitis, as contagious as human but against which vaccination is specifically only just over 1 percent of these animals. This disease does not cause zoonoses and therefore are not transmitted to humans, but their virus could cause distress to people who are immuno-suppressed. The expert believed that vaccination against this disease is recommended to avoid complications and said that most of multivalent vaccines that are administered today already cover tracheobronchitis.

According to the expert, the current heptavalent and pentavalent vaccines that protect against hepatitis, distemper, leptospirosis and parvovirus also do so against the Dog Flu, a detail that many owners are unknown.

Canine infectious tracheobronchitis occurs in areas with large concentrations of dogs, such as farms, residences and even parks and plazas, the mode of transmission of this disease is through sneezing and saliva. According to a report of a veterinary drug manufacturing laboratories, nearly 90 percent of domestic dogs live under the same roof as their masters. The 20 percent of those pets sleep in the same bed with her owner, while 26 percent do so in the same room and 43 percent in some other room in the house
